About me

Hi, welcome to my inner world :)

My name is Laine and I use they/them pronouns.

I have been living, creating, and healing on the lands of the Jagera, Giabal, Jarowair and Western Wakka Wakka peoples with my partner and two cats since 2023.

I grew up in central Queensland with a passion for creating, learning, storytelling and questioning the world. Throughout my childhood - filled with scrapbooks, mess, and mud potions - I never quite understood myself. As I got older, I excelled in school while silently struggling with my mental health and then quickly burnt out in adulthood.

It was a late diagnosis of Autism and ADHD, a lot of therapy, and a journey of accepting my queer identity that led me to where I am now.

An unexpected trip to Toowoomba Lifeline Bookfest in 2023 re-introduced me to collage - a medium that has deep roots in my creative practice.

The tactile and puzzle-like nature of collage allows me a safe place to process the world a highly sensitive person. I am inspired by many different subjects and elements and enjoy exploring both deeply thematic and playful pieces.

Outside of creating, sharing, and selling my art online, I am passionate about community events. I have been on a steering group committee for a sold-out exhibition, participated in a Wear It Purple Day market, hosted workshops within LGBTQIA+ and disability spaces, submitted my art for local exhibitions, and am keeping my eyes open for more opportunities every day.

You can stay up to date with what I am doing through my social medias and I welcome any enquires about workshop facilitation services for those located in Southeast Queensland.
